Baseball Game Preview: Buffalo Bison vs. Wayne Pioneers

Buffalo and Wayne are an even 4-4 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. Buffalo will head out on the road to take on Wayne at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wayne took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Buffalo, who comes in off a win.

Buffalo will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Nitro, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. Buffalo walked away with a 6-3 victory over Nitro on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bison.

Anthony Pitchford was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Buffalo is 2-1 when Pitchford allowsone or fewer hits, but 0-4 otherwise. Pitchford was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. That run was his first of the season.

Pitchford wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Evan Panaro, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4. Britton Hudson also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Wayne fell victim to Winfield and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They came up short against the Generals, falling 6-0. The loss continues a trend for the Pioneers in their meetings with the Generals: they've now lost seven in a row.

Riley Brown was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Buffalo's record is now 2-5. As for Wayne, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Buffalo beat Wayne 13-8 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buffalo since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
