Mukwonago has gone 9-1 against Waukesha South recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Indians will square off against the Blackshirts at 4:30 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Mukwonago managed to slip by Waukesha West the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Indians lost 13-3 to the Wolverines on Monday. The loss put an end to the Indians' undefeated start to the season.
Mukwonago saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paeton DeGroot, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
Meanwhile, Waukesha South might've scored the first runs on Monday, but it was Catholic Memorial who claimed the real prize. The Blackshirts came up short against the Crusaders, falling 10-4.
Deanna Sanchez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and seven unearned) runs on five hits.
On the hitting side, Alyson Staley made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-4. Layla Amerling was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Having lost for the first time this season, Mukwonago fell to 2-1. As for Waukesha South, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
Waukesha South's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mukwonago has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.3 hits per game. It's a different story for Waukesha South, though, as they've been averaging 8.7 hits. Given Mukwonago's sizable advantage in that area, the Blackshirts will need to find a way to close that gap.
Mukwonago took their win against Waukesha South in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
