Cubby Roth (C) turned in his biggest game of the season on Wednesday, striking out 11 batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and seven unearned) runs off three hits. As if that's not impressive enough, the pitching appearance was his fourth in a row with six or more strikeouts. For the season, he has been strong no matter where he plays. On the mound, he has an ERA of 5.73 over 22 innings pitched. Meanwhile, at bat he has slashed 0.536/0.639/0.964 with 16 runs, plus 20 stolen bases.

Even though Roth (C) couldn't lead Mayfield over Fort Plain, he won't have to wait long to try again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers haven't beaten the Hilltoppers recently, having gone 0-10 since April of 2018.
