Mississinewa and Eastbrook are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2015, but likely not for long. The Indians will challenge the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Tuesday, Mississinewa made easy work of Elwood and carried off a 14-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Indians.
Lilah Greer was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Amiyaa Parr-Inman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Jaeli Miller also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Eastbrook waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Bruins with a sharp 12-1 win.
Delanie Elliott and Olivia Legg did most of the damage at the plate: Elliott went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Legg went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Gracie Elliott, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.
Eastbrook always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .517. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Eastbrook pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Mississinewa, their record now sits at 8-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Mississinewa hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.4 home runs per game. However, it's not like Eastbrook struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Mississinewa came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastbrook in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Indians since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
