The Benton Central Bison will head out on the road to face off against the Tri-County Cavaliers at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Benton Central waltzed into their game on Saturday with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Frankfort 60-42.
Meanwhile, Tri-County entered their tilt with North Newton with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Tri-County enjoyed a cozy 57-42 win over North Newton last Thursday. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 11 more assists than your opponent, as Tri-County did.
Tri-County's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Koby Bahler, who scored 18 points along with two blocks. Bahler has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Hughes, who scored ten points along with six assists and two steals.
Benton Central's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Tri-County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season.
Benton Central was able to grind out a solid win over Tri-County in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 49-40. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Tri-County's Nate Corbin, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Benton Central to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
