The Troy Trojans struggled with three-point shooting accuracy on Saturday (the West Carrollton Pirates were 21% better) and sadly the final score reflected it. Troy lost to West Carrollton on the road by a decisive 47-33 margin. Troy has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Troy's loss came despite strong showings from Kiyah Baker and Jayda Dillow. Baker dropped a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds, while Dillow scored ten points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Dillow has scored all season.
Iyanna Thompson continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for West Carrollton, scoring 18 points along with six steals and five assists. Selena Frost was another key contributor, shooting 4-for-8 from long range and almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds.
Troy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season. As for West Carrollton, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-7.
Troy will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Beavercreek at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. Hopefully Troy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Saturday. As for West Carrollton, they will head out on the road to challenge Fairborn at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully West Carrollton is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Ohio (they are ranked 286th, while Fairborn is ranked 720th).
