The Choctaw Central Warriors came tearing into Thursday's contest with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They blew past Leake Central 81-51 on the road. Given Choctaw Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while Leake Central is ranked 110th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Clemons Zylier was his usual excellent self, scoring 18 points. He has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayce Sam, who scored nine points.
Choctaw Central is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 20 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. As for Leake Central, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-15 record this season.

One thing working in Choctaw Central's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 13 games. Northeast Lauderdale knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Leake Central likes a good challenge.
