It was a good run, but The Texas Tigers unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 19-13 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pine Tree. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Texas came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 31st, while Pine Tree is ranked 168th).
Despite the defeat, Texas saw an underclassman step up: Tradarian Ball gained 205 total yards. Ball hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games.
Texas' loss dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Pine Tree, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-4.
Texas will square off against Terrell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Chase Bingmon and Ball. As for Pine Tree, they will face off against Lovejoy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lovejoy is coming into the game hot, having won their last seven games.
