The University Prep Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matches by 23 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Franklin 80-49 on the road. Given University Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 412th, while Franklin is ranked 1269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
University Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Scott Steffan led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five rebounds. The game was Steffan's third in a row with at least ten points. Trey Pringle was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with five steals.
The victory (which was University Prep's fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 82.3 points per game. As for Franklin, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-5.
University Prep will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Twelve Bridges at 4:00 p.m. on December 14th. As for Franklin, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Davis at 7:00 p.m. on December 14th.
