After three games on the road, West Springfield is heading back home. They will take on the Taconic Thunder at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Springfield will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Massachusetts Rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Taconic is ranked 36th).
West Springfield's 17-5 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 70-53 to Pittsfield.
Meanwhile, Taconic had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four last Friday. They walked away with a 66-57 win over Springfield International. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
West Springfield bumped their record down to 1-11 with that loss, which was their ninth straight on the road. As for Taconic, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
West Springfield took a serious blow against Taconic in their previous meeting on January 5th, falling 81-32. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point West Springfield was down 50-19.
