Tolsia is 2-8 against Tug Valley since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Rebels will venture away from home to challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Tolsia is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 11th straight game on Saturday. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-11 heartbreaker at the hands of Greater Beckley Christian. Even if the Rebels couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Meanwhile, while Tug Valley put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Tolsia. The Panthers blew past the Rebels 10-0. The victory continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Rebels: they've now won five in a row.
Jacob Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs. He has become a key player for Tug Valley: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-15 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gage Whitt, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double. Tug Valley is undefeated when Whitt posts two or more stolen bases, but 7-15 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dawson Richardson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Tug Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .474. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .424 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Tolsia's loss dropped their record down to 3-26. As for Tug Valley, their record is now 11-15.
Tolsia suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Tug Valley in their previous meeting on Friday. Can the Rebels avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
