Bellows Free Academy is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Vermont's top teams: Essex, who was ranked first at the time (Bellows Free Academy was ranked second). The Bobwhites/Comets came up short against the Hornets on Friday, falling 3-0. The Bobwhites/Comets have struggled against the Hornets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
While Bellows Free Academy was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-23, 25-21.
Burlington had taken St. Johnsbury Academy down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Friday. The Seahorses fell just short of the Hilltoppers by a score of 3-2.
Burlington actually scored more points across those five sets (101-90), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 12-25, 13-25, 25-18, 15-13.
Burlington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Bellows Free Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
Everything went Bellows Free Academy's way against Burlington in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as Bellows Free Academy made off with a 3-0 win. Do the Bobwhites/Comets have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Seahorses turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
