Hazen extended the longest winning streak in A Region 4 this week by beating Berthold/Our Redeemer's Christian/North Shore, 50-20. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Killdeer/Halliday was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Velva. The Cowboys came in at 23 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
Grant County/Flasher's dynamic duo of Taylor Krenz and Dustin Iverson proved tough for Stanley/Powers Lake to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Krenz threw for 300 yards and four touchdowns and Iverson had 130 yards receiving. JW Froelich helped Grant County/Flasher's passing attack out by catching seven balls for 82 yards.
Cole Hecker was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 28 carries, he ran for 178 yards as Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart] fell to the Bluejays. Teammate Seth Ewoniuk added to the ground attack by rushing for 155 yards.
Grant County/Flasher's Krenz and Zackary Schmidt have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Krenz has thrown for 1355 yards this season, while Schmidt, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 34 catches for 461 yards. The Cougars' Ewoniuk leads the league in rushing yards with 1447.
The marquee game in A Region 4 this week will be the clash between Hazen and Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart]. Rick Philion's team comes into the matchup ranked 15th in the state, while Dave Hendrickson's team ranks 14th.
The Cougars' Hecker is a mere 75 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 117 carries Hecker has accumulated 925 yard this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Hazen takes on Heart River co-op [Belfield/South Heart]. The Bison have allowed 107 points this season, while the Cougars have given up 92.
Hazen took down the Bombers 50-20 last week, the largest margin of any game.
