The National Trail Blazers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Preble Shawnee Arrows on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Arrows by a score of 23-21. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for National Trail in their matchups with Preble Shawnee: they've now lost three in a row.
Among those leading the charge was Ashleigh Mondello-garrett, who scored eight points along with nine steals and six rebounds. Those nine steals set a new season-high mark for her.
National Trail has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Preble Shawnee, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. National Trail has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Twin Valley South at 2:15 p.m. on January 6th. Twin Valley South is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Preble Shawnee, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Tri-County North at 2:30 p.m. Hopefully Tri-County North focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 last Thursday.
