Softball Recap: Clayton Wins Going Away Against Pecos

Clayton was forced to take a big defeat against they on Tuesday, they got the better of them on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 24-13 margin over the Pecos Panthers. Considering the Yellowjackets have won five games by more than eight runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Clayton got a massive performance out of Issabell Reed, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that Reed has brought in this season. Briana Taylor was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs.

Clayton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .826. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .769 or higher in six consecutive matchups.

With the win, Clayton broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-8. As for Pecos, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-15 record this season.

Clayton will challenge Estancia at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears will roll in looking for their 13th straight victory, something the Yellowjackets surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pecos, they will square off against Santa Rosa at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.59 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
