There's no place like home for the American Heritage Patriots, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They secured a 47-41 W over the Stallions on Saturday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Patriots' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Stallions are ranked 155th).
Despite the loss, the Stallions saw an underclassman step up: Xander Gerard scored 11 points along with two steals. Zack Burrow was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
The Patriots' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-7. As for the Stallions, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. American Heritage will take on Somerset Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Somerset Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully American Heritage likes a good challenge. As for American Heritage, they will be playing at home against Somerset Academy - Canyons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Somerset Academy - Canyons has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 15.
