Eagle is 10-0 against Capital since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Eagle Mustangs will head out on the road to face off against the Capital Golden Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Eagle will be strutting in after a victory while Capital will be coming in after a defeat.
Eagle scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They put the hurt on Borah with a sharp 61-40 victory. The win was just what Eagle needed coming off of a 75-36 defeat in their prior match.
It was another big night for Paige Cofer, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Berkley Jones was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Capital, who are still winless after their fifth game. They received a tough blow last Tuesday as they fell 48-32 to Borah. While losing is never fun, Capital can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while Borah is ranked 25th).
Eagle is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 5-5 record this season. As for Capital, their defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-5.
Eagle beat Capital 39-28 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Eagle since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
