It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Rolesville Rams had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by Purnell Swett at home to the tune of 62-0. The win was familiar territory for Rolesville who now have nine in a row.
Braden Atkinson got back to being his usual excellent self, as he threw for 211 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. The team also got some help courtesy of Devon Thomas, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries.
Rolesville's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-1. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 11-1 Butler and 10-2 Cardinal Gibbons (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 55.8% over those games). As for Purnell Swett, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.
Rolesville has the luxury of staying home another week and will welcome Wake Forest at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th. Wake Forest is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Purnell Swett does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
