Floyd Central has gone a perfect 6-0 against Silver Creek recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Highlanders will be playing at home against the Dragons at 5:30 p.m. Floyd Central is coming into the contest hot, having won their last 12 games.
Floyd Central's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Jennings County as they made off with a 13-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Highlanders, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Adeline Shultz made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Emmy Miller looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Addy Ware, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Natalie Curtis, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Floyd Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jennings County only managed two hits.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Silver Creek's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They lost 22-12 to Avon.
Bailee Garrett and Avery Rankin stepped up to the plate in a big way. Garrett went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Rankin went a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That double marked the first that Garrett has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Heidi Phillips, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Floyd Central's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-4. The road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Silver Creek, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-9.
Floyd Central skirted past Silver Creek 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Do the Highlanders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
