Trinity has played every game this season on their home court, but they'll have to hit the road on Friday. They will square off against the Normandy Invaders at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Trinity's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three matches.
Trinity has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 23 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 56-32 margin over Fairview. Given Trinity's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 154th, while Fairview is ranked 553rd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
De'oshania Bennett and Iniya Charlton were among the main playmakers for Trinity as the former scored 13 points along with eight steals and six assists and the latter dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Charlton is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kendall Hughes, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, Normandy scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They walked away with a 53-42 win over Holy Name. The win made it back-to-back wins for Normandy.
Normandy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Izzy Akin, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Akin set a new season high mark in assists with six. Sammi Perdue was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Trinity's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.3 points per game. Normandy's record now sits at 2-4.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's contest: Trinity have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 5.4 threes per game. It's a different story for Normandy, though, as they've been averaging only 3.8 threes per game. Given Trinity's sizeable advantage in that area, Normandy will need to find a way to close that gap.
