The Carmel Rams's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 57-37 walloping at the hands of Poughkeepsie. Carmel was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 26-5.
Carmel's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kylie Murphy, who scored 17 points along with two steals. That was a full 45.9% of Carmel's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Carmel's loss was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.9 points per game. As for Poughkeepsie, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carmel will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Keio Academy of N.Y. at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th. As for Poughkeepsie, they will take on Red Hook at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
