Southern Nash is 2-8 against Northern Nash since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Southern Nash Firebirds will venture away from home to face off against the Northern Nash Knights at 7:30 p.m. Southern Nash is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.6 points per game this season.
Last Friday, Southern Nash came up short against Rocky Mount and fell 65-54. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while the Gryphons are ranked 165th).

Despite the defeat, Southern Nash had strong showings from Jaden Hartsfield, who went 8 of 12 to rack up 19 points and three steals, and George Richardson, who posted nine points and five rebounds. What's more, Hartsfield also posted a 67% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's posted since back in January of 2024. Seth Davis was another key player, putting up four points.
Meanwhile, Northern Nash entered their tilt with Rocky Mount on Monday with nine consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with ten. They were the clear victor by an 84-61 margin over the Gryphons. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 matches by 20 points or more this season.
Northern Nash found their leader in sophomore CJ Rosser Jr., who went 10 for 19 on his way to 27 points and five boards. Rosser Jr.'s evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Christian Barnes, who went 6 of 11 en route to 14 points and three steals.
Northern Nash smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.
Northern Nash pushed their record up to 16-5 with the win, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.2 points over those games. As for Southern Nash, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Southern Nash has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Northern Nash struggles in that department as they've been averaging 36.1 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Southern Nash was taken down by Northern Nash 68-23 in their previous meeting back in January. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Southern Nash was down 38-17.
