The Chatham Central Bears will head out on the road to square off against the Jordan-Matthews Jets at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Chatham Central has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 372 points over their last five matchups.
In what's become a running theme this season, Chatham Central gave their fans yet another huge victory on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Graham 82-54 on the road. Given Chatham Central's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 194th, while the Red Devils are ranked 630th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Reid Albright was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Gilliland, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Jordan-Matthews, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 65-51 loss to the Stallions on Friday. Jordan-Matthews was down 53-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Chatham Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 75.7 points per game. As for Jordan-Matthews, they now have a losing record at 8-9.
Chatham Central beat the Jets 58-47 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Chatham Central since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
