Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Liberty). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Summers County Bobcats a 22-0 shutout on Tuesday. Considering the Raiders have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Maddie Cox made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.1 strikeouts per game. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Liberty got a massive performance out of Stella Brown, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Those four runs gave Brown a new career-high. Alyssa Scarbro was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one triple.
Liberty kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. They are 9-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
