Woodward Academy faced Blessed Trinity in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The War Eagles walked away with a 2-0 victory over the Titans. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the War Eagles also won the last time the pair played back in August of 2024.

While Woodward Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-19.

Leah Scantlebury paced Woodward Academy's offense, picking up nine kills. Scantlebury got some help from Marissa Jones and her 17 assists. Reagan Bland controlled things from the service line, finishing with four aces.

Woodward Academy's win bumped their record up to 30-6. As for Blessed Trinity, with the loss, they broke their three-match winning streak and moved their record to 26-9.

Woodward Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against McIntosh at 6:00 p.m. on October 7. As for Blessed Trinity, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Marist on the 25th.
