The Greene Central Rams suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Farmville Central by a score of 41-38. If Greene Central hoped to take revenge for the 52-48 defeat against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Despite the defeat, Greene Central saw an underclassman step up: An'nysha Wooten dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Wooten is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Janiyah Sutton, who scored four points along with five steals.
Farmville Central's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jamya Saddler, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Nakevia Phillips, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Greene Central's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 5-11. As for Farmville Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 7-6 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing North Pitt the next time they take the court. Farmville Central will host North Pitt at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Greene Central will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
