Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Catholic's 12th in Last 13 Outings

Central typically has all the answers at home, but on Thursday Catholic proved too difficult a challenge. They never let the Wildcats get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. Considering the Bears have won 11 games by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Catholic got a great performance from Mills Richardson as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over five innings pitched. Richardson has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Noah Lewis, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was Jack Ruckert, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. Central's loss was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 19-7.

Catholic will have a chance to go back-to-back against Central: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:00 p.m. on Friday.
