There wasn't a ton of movement in the power rankings this week, but there was certainly enough to keep things interesting. A special shoutout goes to Arvada West's senior Johnny Krutsch, who scored six total touchdowns in the team's most recent match.
Welcome
Basalt managed to bank 203 more yards than its opponent Battle Mountain last week, and going the extra distance paid off. Everything went Basalt's way against Battle Mountain as it secured a 47 - 6 win. One star in particular for Basalt was senior Trevor Reuss, who tossed the ball for 162 yards and three TDs. The win also thrust Basalt into the power rankings, where the team now holds the 25th spot.
Can't Touch This
Eaglecrest's 46 - 0 win over Rocky Mountain last week had a lot to do with the leadership of senior Dylan James. James rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns. That performance landed James among the top power-ranked players for the week.
A
It was a battle of top-notch squads when ThunderRidge (6th in the power rankings) took on Fairview (8th) last week. Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, ThunderRidge beat Fairview 28 - 24. ThunderRidge gave the Fairview offensive line some real trouble with six sacks (and will no doubt be looking to keep the pressure on Horizon this Thursday).
No Stoppin 'Em
The match between Platte Valley and Elizabeth last week put some strain on the scoreboard; in fact, with a total of 72 final points, it was the highest scoring contest in the power rankings for the week. Platte Valley picked up a decisive 'W' against Elizabeth, finishing up at 59 - 13. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Platte Valley as the clear winner.
