It was a good run, but the Crystal City Javelinas unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lytle. Crystal City has struggled against Lytle recently, as their game on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Crystal City's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Alyson Mata, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds, and Bela Tapia who scored ten points along with three steals. Tapia has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last 13 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Selma Flores, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Crystal City struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Lytle posted 13 assists.
Calyssa Sevier was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with eight assists and eight rebounds for Lytle. Sevier is crushing the point category: she's posted at least 17 every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Katara Whitfield, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Crystal City's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 18-15. As for Lytle, they are on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 26-7 record this season.
Crystal City does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Lytle also has no future games currently scheduled.
