St. Vincent de Paul Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Independence Home School Lions and fell 73-45. One positive for the Hawks, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

When it comes to explaining why St. Vincent de Paul Academy lost, don't look at George Spencer. Despite the final result, he went 7 of 16 en route to 15 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Greene, who posted eight points and seven rebounds.

Independence Home School's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aidan Vanderhorst, who had 24 points. With that strong performance, Vanderhorst is now averaging an impressive 16.5 points per game. Another player making a difference was Joe Young, who put up 17 points.

St. Vincent de Paul Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Independence Home School, their win was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

St. Vincent de Paul Academy will host Midland Adventist Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Midland Adventist Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something St. Vincent de Paul Academy surely won't give up without a fight. As for Independence Home School, they will head out on the road to face off against Varsity Opponent at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
