The Boulder City Eagles will take on the Durango Trailblazers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Boulder City is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Boulder City made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Cimarron-Memorial, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Boulder City was the clear victor by a 19-8 margin over Cimarron-Memorial on Wednesday. The victory was nothing new for the Eagles as they're now sitting on three straight.

Tate Crine was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He is becoming a predictor of Boulder City's success: when he allows at most three earned runs the team is undefeated (and 5-7 when he doesn't). Crine was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances.
In other batting news, Jaxton Sanchez was incredible, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Aiden Armstrong was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Boulder City was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They are 4-2 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Durango had just enough and edged out Southeast Career Tech 5-4 on Wednesday.
Like Boulder City, Durango also got a great game from a two-way player: Alexander Mercurius. He struck out eight batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Mercurius has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.
Mercurius wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Carson Crosby, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI. Another was Kysyn Kauahipaula, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Durango is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. Boulder City now has a winning record of 8-7.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Boulder City hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .361. However, it's not like Durango struggles in that department as they've averaged .344. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Boulder City might still be hurting after the 18-4 loss they got from Durango in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Can Boulder City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
