Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Island Coast). They snuck past the Gateway Eagles with a 12-7 win on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Gators.

Island Coast found their leader in sophomore Nevaeh Howard, who rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown, and also picked up 40 receiving yards and one TD.

Island Coast didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Bria Brathwaite led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by herself.

Island Coast's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Gateway, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.

Coming up, Island Coast will take on Ida Baker at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs' defense has only allowed 12.3 points per game this season, so the Gators' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Gateway, they have already played their next match, a 33-0 defeat against South Fort Myers on the 7th.
