Baseball Recap: Babcock Finds Home Field Redemption Against Dunbar

There's no place like home for Babcock, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Dunbar Tigers on Thursday.

Brodie Duncan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4. He is becoming a predictor of Babcock's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-7 when he doesn't).

In other pitching news, Brodie Hunter looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Anthony Brand, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. He has become a key player for Babcock: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Paxton Cooper was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Babcock is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Dunbar, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Babcock wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 11-0 loss against Evangelical Christian on the 8th. As for Dunbar, they have also already played their next contest, a 16-0 defeat against South Fort Myers on the 8th.
