It was a good run, but the North Eugene Highlanders unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 64-56 to Crater. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as North Eugene came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Oregon basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Crater is ranked 49th).
Despite the defeat, North Eugene had strong showings from Caiden Gould, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and India Mohiuddin, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and two steals. Mohiuddin has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Jonas Spencer was another key contributor, scoring 13 points along with seven rebounds.
North Eugene's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-3. As for Crater, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Eugene will face off against Thurston at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. North Eugene knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully Thurston likes a good challenge. As for Crater, they will head out on the road to face off against Churchill at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
