The Hermann Bearcats will head out on the road to square off against the St. Pius X Lancers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hermann knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three games -- so hopefully St. Pius X likes a good challenge.
Hermann will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating South Callaway, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. The Bearcats blew past the Bulldogs 12-0 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Bearcats, who have now won five matchups by 12 runs or more so far this season.

Taylor Carver made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in September of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Kimber Hale was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in September of 2024. Another player making a difference was Delilah Nobel, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Hermann kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for St. Pius X's offense. They lost 15-0 to Fredericktown on Wednesday. The loss continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Black Cats: they've now lost five in a row.
Hermann is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for St. Pius X, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
St. Pius X's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Hermann has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.4 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for St. Pius X, though, as they've been averaging only 1.8 strikeouts. Will Hermann keep running through batters, or will the Lancers buck the trend?
Everything went Hermann's way against St. Pius X when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as Hermann made off with a 16-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
