It was a good run, but the Cane Bay Cobras unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 60-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Ashley Ridge. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Cane Bay of the 46-44 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Despite the loss, Cane Bay still got an impressive performance from Curtrell Dixon, who scored ten points along with six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jarvis Roper, who scored 12 points along with two blocks.
Jahlil Hope was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 30 points and 21 rebounds for Ashley Ridge. Hope is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Clayton Everett was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds.
Cane Bay's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7. As for Ashley Ridge, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Cane Bay won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Stratford at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Stratford has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19. As for Ashley Ridge, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Summerville at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Summerville is looking to tack on another W to their seven-game streak on the road.
