Preston is 1-9 against Lincoln since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Knights will host the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. Preston has given up an average of 7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times Preston and University had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Knights came up short against the Hawks on Monday, falling 16-5.
Bryson McNew was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Lyric Moats, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Lincoln). They were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over North Marion on Monday. Considering the Cougars have won nine contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
AJ Bart made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Bart was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Colton Edwards was a standout: he went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Anthony Belcastro was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Preston's defeat dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Lincoln, their victory bumped their record up to 16-9.
