After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Northview, the Chattahoochee Cougars were happy to have found some success on Saturday. They breezed by Kennesaw Mountain on the road to the tune of 50-15. Given Chattahoochee's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 106th, while Kennesaw Mountain is ranked 443rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Chattahoochee's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Riley Berninger, who scored 16 points along with 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Berninger has scored at least 25% of Chattahoochee's points. Another player making a difference was Brooklinne Dorr, who scored 12 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 assists.
Chattahoochee's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.
Chattahoochee will be staying on the road on Monday to face off against Johns Creek at 6:00 p.m. on December 11th. Johns Creek is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Kennesaw Mountain, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Marietta at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Marietta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Saturday.
