The Bullis Bulldogs scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cannon 71-43 on the road. The result was nothing new for Bullis, who have now won five matchups by 23 points or more so far this season.
Bullis' victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ivanna Manyacka, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The contest was Manyacka's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Meghan Yarnevich, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Cannon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kierra Morrow, who scored eight points. Morrow has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played. Madison Drayton was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Bullis' win bumped their record up to 8-3. As for Cannon, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bullis and Sidwell Friends will face off at 5:45 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Sidwell Friends is ranked second in District of Columbia, while Bullis is ranked fourth in Maryland). Cannon will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Covenant Day at 5:30 p.m. on January 9th.
