Cherokee Trail is 0-10 against the Bruins since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Cherokee Trail Cougars will head out on the road to take on the Cherry Creek Bruins at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Cherokee Trail comes in on nine and the Bruins on ten.
Cherokee Trail can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They blew past Overland 78-30 at home. Given Cherokee Trail's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Trailblazers are ranked 94th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cherokee Trail's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaliyah Broadus, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Broadus has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Damara Allen, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds.
Meanwhile, Cherry Creek scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They blew past Smoky Hill, posting a 70-21 win on the road. Cherry Creek has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 20 points or more this season.
Cherokee Trail's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Cherry Creek, their win bumped their record up to 16-2.
Cherokee Trail came up short against the Bruins in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 57-47. Can Cherokee Trail avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
