Stoneman Douglas has gone a perfect 7-0 against Coral Glades recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Eagles will face off against the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Stoneman Douglas sitting on four straight victories and Coral Glades on three.
Stoneman Douglas' hitters will try to repeat the strong performance they gave on Wednesday, when they got past Doral Academy's usually-dominant pitching crew. The Eagles put the hurt on the Firebirds with a sharp 10-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won ten matchups by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Gio Rojas was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rojas was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
In other pitching news, Daniel Tartaglia looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jake Rizzo, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Diaz, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Meanwhile, Coral Glades beat Monarch 5-1 on Wednesday.
Charlie Beaty was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-2.
Stoneman Douglas pushed their record up to 21-2 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.1 runs over those games. As for Coral Glades, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Everything went Stoneman Douglas' way against Coral Glades in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, as Stoneman Douglas made off with an 11-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
