The Leakey Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their tenth straight loss. Their rough 79-53 defeat to Rocksprings might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Leakey can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1725th, while the Angoras are ranked 631st).
Rocksprings was led to victory by Hunter Taylor and Jeremiah Wilson. Taylor shot 4-for-5 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 23 points and 18 rebounds, while Wilson dropped a double-double on 35 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Wilson has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ty Hendley, who scored five points along with ten rebounds and seven assists.
Leakey has been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-22 record this season. As for Rocksprings, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 22-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Leakey will challenge the Cowboys at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Rocksprings, they will head out on the road to challenge the Bobcats at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
