After a string of four wins, the Lamar Thunder's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell to Manitou Springs 52-48. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lamar in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.
Jacob Dunning and Deyago Vasquez certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Dunning scored 14 points along with two steals, while Vasquez scored 14 points along with six steals. Dunning continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Alex Williams, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Lamar's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-4. As for Manitou Springs, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lamar will challenge the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. James Irwin will be looking to keep their seven-game home win streak alive. As for Manitou Springs, they will head out on the road to challenge the Demons at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
