Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Bexley

Bexley extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 13-5. They were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Berne Union Rockets. Considering the Lions have won six contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Zoe Lemon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Davaney Prophet was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Isla Haffner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and two runs.

Bexley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berne Union struck out eight times.

As for Berne Union, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-4 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 27 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.

On Berne Union's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylee North, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Coming up, Bexley will welcome Franklin Heights at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Berne Union, they will head out on the road to take on Miller at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.73 runs per game on average), something the Rockets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
