If the Waukegan Bulldogs were riding high off their 42-19 takedown of the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Waukegan was outmatched by Glenbrook North on the road and fell 59-31. While losing is never fun, Waukegan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 433rd, while Glenbrook North is ranked 60th).
Waukegan lost on Saturday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aaliaya Cade, who scored 11 points. That was a full 35.5% of Waukegan's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Madison Johnson was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Waukegan has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-18 record this season. As for Glenbrook North, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waukegan will take on Round Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Waukegan is on a three-game streak of home losses, Round Lake a three-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. Glenbrook North will take on Niles West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
