The Columbia Central Golden Eagles will face off against the Manchester Flying Dutchmen at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
Columbia Central's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. Everything went their way against Jonesville as they made off with an 8-0 win. The Golden Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.

Conor Rentfrow made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one run and one double.
In other batting news, Blake Hoskins was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That home run was his first of the season. Lukas Calhoun was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Columbia Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Manchester made easy work of Addison on Monday and carried off a 14-2 victory. That looming 14-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Flying Dutchmen yet this season.
Trent Line spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, Ben Pauly and Neil Gebhardt did most of the damage at the plate: Pauly went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI, while Gebhardt went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. Gebhardt is becoming a predictor of Manchester's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Chace Conklin, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs.
Columbia Central's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Manchester, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.
Both Columbia Central and Manchester just can't seem to miss. The Golden Eagles have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. However, it's not like Manchester struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
