The Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears will face off against the Legacy Tigers at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Port of Los Angeles will be looking to extend their current 15-game winning streak.
Port of Los Angeles is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-1 win over Eagle Rock.
The team relied heavily on Jimena Vargas, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Abigail Bazan was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Legacy came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10.7 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 7-3. That's two games straight that the Tigers have won by exactly four runs.
Savannah Medina spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Legacy got a massive performance out of Priscilla Medina, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave Medina a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Medina, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Port of Los Angeles pushed their record up to 18-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Legacy, their victory bumped their record up to 23-7.
Everything went Port of Los Angeles' way against Legacy in their previous meeting back in March of 2016, as Port of Los Angeles made off with a 16-0 win. Do the Polar Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
