Northridge and Utica are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Vikings will be playing at home against the Redskins at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Things were looking good for Northridge after they put the first run on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Watkins Memorial by a score of 6-5. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Kash Reeves was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
Reeves wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Noah Mason, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI. Will Higgins also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Utica). Everything went their way against Zanesville on Wednesday as they made off with a 12-3 win. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Utica picked up their first home win, bumping their record up to 3-9. As for Northridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Northridge might still be hurting after the 11-5 loss they got from Utica when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
