The Wilcox Academy Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 52-23 loss at the hands of Southern Academy. If Wilcox Academy hoped to take revenge for the 34-23 loss against they when the teams met, then they were left disappointed.
Southern Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Madeline Chapman led the charge by scoring two points along with seven assists and five steals. Chapman is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kaitlyn Sluder was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Wilcox Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Southern Academy, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-2.
Wilcox Academy will head out on the road to challenge Morgan Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Southern Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Monday against Restoration Academy at 6:00 p.m. Restoration Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings (they are ranked 228th, while Southern Academy is ranked 83rd).
