Stivers School for the Arts' defeat came about despite a quality game from Amaury Hawes, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Hawes has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Gavin Wright was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Belmont can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Thurgood Marshall with a sharp 84-59 victory. The win was just what Belmont needed coming off of a 74-53 defeat in their prior match.
Belmont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Denzell Ogle out in front who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and five steals. Ogle hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Judah Baldwin, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds.
This is the second loss in a row for Stivers School for the Arts and nudges their season record down to 4-9. As for Belmont, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the pair are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Stivers School for the Arts hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 54.3 points per game. It's a different story for Belmont, though, as they've been averaging only 63.9 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
